Peter Shepard: On January 18, 2022, Peter Shepard passed away of organ failure after a sudden illness and several days in hospital. He returned home as he wished and Rosie, Michael and his puppy were at his side as he passed as peacefully as possible. Peter was 76 years old.
Peter served as a nurse in the Navy and attended St. Paul Academy, Summit High School (1965) and University of the Pacific. Peter joined Mentor Corporation very early and was one of the first employees in Minneapolis. When Mentor acquired the Goleta- based Heyer Schulte division of American Hospital Supply Corp in 1984, Peter moved to Santa Barbara and made it his home for over 35 years. Peter was an avid firearms enthusiast, held a Federal Firearms License and shared his love of shooting sports with anyone who had an interest. He was a big advocate of the second amendment, all the shooting sports, Winchester Gun Club, while encouraging strict adherence to both safety and gun laws. Peter recently sold his home in Santa Barbara and moved to Minnesota to be closer to his family. He is survived by the love of his life, Rosie, and his son Michael.
Peter cared deeply about doing the right thing. He was always fun to be around. He was loved by all of his friends, co-workers and family and will be missed.
Peter was one of the few WCGC members that held a Federal Firearms License and many members purchased firearms and Ammo through Peter. He was a big advocate of the second amendment, the shooting sports, Winchester Gun Club, and strict adherence to both safety and gun regulations and laws. We will miss you Peter and are sending love, thoughts, and prayers to Rosie and Michael during this tough time.
